The Challenge

HanaByte takes a more human approach to cybersecurity. Instead of focusing on large companies with built-in resources, they’re centered on growing small businesses that don’t always have the same access or support. A big part of what makes them stand out is educating their clients. They do this through workshops and events. With this, they help clients better understand how to protect themselves and feel more confident doing it.

With that in mind, we wanted the branding to reflect that same mindset. The goal was to make people feel supported, but also shift the way they think about cybersecurity—less intimidating, more empowering. HanaByte wanted to come across as approachable and trustworthy, while still feeling safe, secure, and grounded in expertise.

The Solution

As Art Director and Graphic Designer, I led the creative direction around the concept of “Man’s Best Friend,” introducing Hana—the company’s dog—as the brand mascot. This idea humanized a complex industry, creating a friendly entry point into cybersecurity while building trust and familiarity.

The visual system balances clean, technical design with illustrative elements that guide users through complex concepts. Scalable across all touch-points, the identity helps potential clients quickly understand both the services and the value behind them.

The Result

The result is a welcoming, easy-to-navigate brand experience that makes HanaByte’s cybersecurity expertise feel approachable without losing its credibility. It’s designed to resonate with both small and large businesses—clear, friendly, and confidently informative. By bringing in a more personable tone and showcasing the certifications HanaByte has earned, the brand builds trust while helping clients feel comfortable, supported, and in good hands.
